Desiring to confront her fears and delve into the judgement and myths of feminine bodies upheld by the older generation, BODY-ODY-ODY seeks to hold space for conversations and deeper understandings to the heart of intergenerational notions of womanhood, using fitness class and visual imageries as an activation for discussion to liberally happen.

BODYODYODY (2021) is an exploration and meandering by Sarah Lin Fang Yi that challenges myths and fears surrounding feminine bodies, creating a space for intergenerational dialogue on womanhood.
Formulated and designed during an artist residency at DBLSPCE, this project invites women of all ages to join a collective fitness class, using movement as a catalyst for connection. Lin, a weightlifter, leverages her athletic background to empower participants, encouraging them to confront societal judgments through shared physicality.
Symbolic visual imagery—mirrors and neon signs—enhances the experience, prompting reflection on identity and resilience.
During the class, women exchange stories of strength and vulnerability, bridging generational gaps in a patriarchal society. The workout transforms into a communal ritual, where movement fosters candid conversations about what it means to be a woman across different life stages. Lin’s interdisciplinary approach ensures that BODYODYODY is both a physical and emotional exploration, breaking down barriers through sweat and dialogue. This project underscores her commitment to engaging diverse communities, offering a bold lens on female identity in a complex cultural landscape.
